A second version of Adam James‘s story was released by coach Mike Leach – who was suspended by his team, the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Last week, Leach was fired for his mistreatment towards inside receiver Adam James. According to this player, he was ordered by his coach to stay in a shed after he suffered from an injury while practicing.
Adam James – ESPN analyst Craig James‘s son – assured that former coach Leach mistreated in the way described above. On the other hand, coach Mike Leach released a different story about this incident.
Interviewed by Rece Davis of ESPN, TTU’s former coach affirmed that Adam James is so lazy and seems to be so liable to his father.
He also claims that James’s teammates and position coaches share the same opinion with him about receiver James. According to coach Leach, Craig James often interfered with TTU affairs and asked for reason why his son did not play.
Former of Texas Tech Red Raiders suggested that James might not have played as much as he wanted because he was not qualified for more playing times.
According to Leach’s story, James’s claim was so exaggerated and too far from the truth. He also stated that Adam James and his father just wanted to increase James’s playing time even though they knew that they did not have much chance to do so. Mike Leach also thought that the Texas Tech would not select James and decide to rip him off.
Leach explained that his action towards James were simply to bench him. According to the TTU’s ex-coach, James was so responsive after his small injury. He added that James was told to wait out in the shed to stay strong by avoiding light and collisions from teammates.
With Leach’s story, it seems that James exaggerated so much Leach’s action. And if things are true as what Leach said, maybe TTU was so impetuous in their decision to fire their football coach. However, such serious problems should be examined carefully regarding Leach’s claims.
