Every year, Girl Scouts across the nation (and right here in Arizona) participate in the largest girl-led business in the world: The Girl Scouts Cookie Sale. With cookie pre-orders beginning on January 7, Girl Scouts will be going door-to-door to sell the treats everyone has been waiting for!
But there is more to the cookie sale than meets the eye. Like all Girl Scouts activities, leadership building principles are woven into the cookie sale to empower and strengthen girls success.
Not only is the cookie sale a blast for Girl Scouts, it is a leadership program unlike any other, developed to strengthen five key skills for girls: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics, said Tamara J. Woodbury, CEO of Girl ScoutsArizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC). The cookie sale is just one part of girls journey to leadership, and we are excited to get this years journey underway!
The cookie program also provides girls with a wide range of enriching and skill-building experiences. Cookie proceeds support girls chosen Scouting activities for the year. From community service and leadership projects to summer camp, travel opportunities and events, cookies help pay the way.
This years cookie sale is particularly special because it coincides with the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting. To celebrate, a new cookie will be soldthe Savannah Smile.
Named after the birthplace of Girl Scouting in Savannah, Georgia, the Savannah Smile is a refreshing lemon cooler in the shape of the famous Brownie smile.
To buy cookies during pre-orders (from January 7 to January 21), keep an eye out for Girl Scouts going door-to-door in your neighborhood! Or call the Girl ScoutsArizona Cactus-Pine Council at (602) 452-7000 to contact a Troop near you.
Cookie delivery of pre-orders begins February 4. Booth sales at a variety of local shopping locations will begin on February 10, and conclude on March 11.
During booth sales, you can use our Cookie Locator at http://www.girlscoutsaz.org to find cookies in your area.
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. To find more information about Girl Scouts, to join, or to become a volunteer at Girl ScoutsArizona Cactus-Pine Council, please visit http://www.girlscoutsaz.org.

We have the of an eye witness account that says the brochures were in the room.
We have a denial that the organizers knew these brochures were in the room.
But does that denial come with criticism of the supplier of the brochure — i.e. that it would not have been approved and that the supplier has been dropped from association with the Girl Guides? Nope.
Does the denial come with criticism of the content of the brochure — i.e. this material is not suitable to the purpose of the Girl Guides? Nope.
When the denials are based on more than the message that the Girl Guide organizers were incompatent, negligent, or in plausible deniability mode, then, the Girl Guide organizers can be taken seriously.
It might happen. And, if it does happen, the commenters above who criticized the critics of the brochure ought to be prepared to turn their criticism on the Girl Guides just as they have turned their on others who have taken issue with the content and it being at this event.
If the Girl Guides do not criticize the supplier and the brochure, then, those commenters must justify the limited type of denial that the organizers have given thusfar. If they justify it, then, they have no business talking about people looking the other way.
