TORONTO, ON (PRWEB) July 27, 2004
Basketball fans throughout the city of Toronto have joined together in order to voice their displeasure with Richard Peddie, the President of the Toronto Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs. The fans, who have grown tired of Richard Peddie’s antics and his lack of sports knowledge, have raised enough money on the FirePeddie.com website to fly a “Keep Vince, Trade Peddie” banner over the Air Canada Centre before Vince Carter’s Charity All-Star Game tomorrow.
The FirePeddie.com project started at the end of the Raptors season when Richard Peddie and the Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) organization began searching for a new General Manager to replace Glen Grunwald. The cold calling process employed by Richard Peddie raised a lot of eyebrows throughout the National Basketball Association (NBA) since it lacked direction and insulted many qualified candidates. The fans who have joined forces to create FirePeddie.com are fed up with Richard Peddie’s constant meddling in sports related matters and as result have established an online petition, which has reached over a thousand signatures, calling for his immediate termination. Richard Peddie has admitted on numerous occasions he is “just a suit”, yet he has continued to interfere with the daily operations of the Toronto Raptors, making this franchise a laughingstock in the NBA.
The web site reads: “Sports fans in Toronto, and across Canada, demand and deserve quality leadership and vision from those running their professional sports franchises. Mr. Peddie has demonstrated neither of these qualities, and the time has come to find someone capable of bringing championship-caliber professional sports back to Toronto. This web site has been established to advance the motion that Mr. Peddie be immediately relieved of his duties as President and CEO of MLSE.”
