Question by Geese: Would The Undertaker losing to CM Punk at Wrestlemania 29 signify a changing of the guard?
Many fans here seem to take offense at the real possibility that The Undertaker could lose to CM Punk at this year’s Wrestlemania. However, would this be such a terrible idea if The Deadman lost to CM Punk at Wrestlemania 29? Consider the list of accomplishments CM Punk has had throughout his career. He knows how to draw heat from the crowd. He’s a great heel. He has been lauded with critical praise from both Pro Wrestling Illustrated and The Wrestling Observer for his in-ring work ethic, mic skills and just overall quality of wrestling matches he has put on. He’s had two five-star match ratings from The Wrestling Observer, his time limit draw vs. Samoa Joe in ROH and his match vs. John Cena at Money in the Bank in July, 2011, a remarkable achievement.
Punk was also ranked number one in the PWI 2012 top 500 wrestlers in the world today. He’s also won The Wrestler of the Year Award from PWI in 2011 and 2012, Most Popular Wrestler of the Year in 2011 and Most Hated Wrestler of the Year in 2012, amongst many other important accomplishments.
When you look at Punk’s resume, it’s quite an impressive list of achievements he’s had over the course of his career. Also, consider this: The Undertaker is getting up there in age and all streaks must come to an end. There has to come a time and place when an older legend has to pass the torch to the young and promising star. And Wrestlemania 29 is a perfect place for Punk to hand The Undertaker his very first defeat.

No, Cm Punk can not end The Undertaker’s winning streak. For over 21
years the phenom of World Wrestling Entertainment the Undertaker has
complied this legendary winning streak on the grand stage of them all at
Wrestlemania. This was Vince McMahon‘s idea for Undertaker to remain
undefeated at all Wrestlemania pay per views. The winning streak will not
end, the winning streak will never end. The Undertaker will be (21-0) after
this years Wrestlemania 29 event. Now I know that wrestling fans will try
to argue well perhaps The Shield might interfere making this a 4 against 1
wrestling match where the odds are against the Undertaker however, even
if that were the case, look back at the history of the Undertaker’s “winning
streak” at Wrestlemania 19 in 2003 he defeated A-Train (Tensai) and also,
the Big Show in a (2-1) handicap match up. That should of been counted in
the record books that Undertaker defeated two opponents so, in reality that
means he should be (21-0) now before he wrestles Cm Punk at Mania 29.
Everyone always says that John Cena should be the wrestler who ends the
Undertaker’s winning streak however, that’s not going to happen either Cena
might be his opponent next year at Wrestlemania 30. Kurt Angle was at one
time considered to be the person, the wrestler who would end that streak at
Wrestlemania 22 back in 2006. However, the WWE creative department did
not choose to let that happen and instead The Undertaker kept that winning
alive and earned another victory defeating Mark Henry at Wrestlemania 22. I
know that idea was presented largely in part because of the Undertaker and
Kurt Angle’s 5 star match at No Way Out in February 2006 the month before.
Yeah we might see the S.H.I.E.L.D. run and get involved in the match at that
second they step in the ring, they will get dealt with by the Undertaker and he
will clear the ring of Cm Punk’s “insurance policy” I don’t know that else to say
I presented a lot of valid points we can expect to see Undertaker’s streak 21-0.
