Penang, trading center of the North, with a population of nearly 1.8 Million within the State of Penang, island and the mainland, this is a true shoppers paradise.
Ever since the first merchants arrived on this little island, trade has blossomed. Penang, because of its harbor position is often the source to all goods shipped into Malaysia and this part of the world.
The overspill can be found in the streets of Penang, because of its rather small heritage and colonial buildings, often shops are small or tiny compared to the large shopping complexes in the major cities like KL and Petaling Jaya. This gives the city a natural flair of bustling trade. Many small specialized work shops offer their services too. Especially the colonial Heritage District will pleasure every visitor for many days.
The heart of Pulau Penang where it all begun, UNESCO’s title as world heritage city, brings curiosity, travelers and shoppers to this part of Malaysia. Within this zone travelers find amazing shopping opportunities, and bargains can be found in all nooks and crannies. The Komtar building is hosting one large (Praganin) mall and two smaller shopping complexes which are all interlinked at various levels by wide walk ways and corridors, and one can see that reconstruction is still taking place to upgrade this area as the premium shopping area in this part of the city. In and around the Heritage District s lots of shops appealing to the traveler can be found, small libraries and bookshops, local eateries, antique and souvenir shops, guesthouses, and money changers. This is definitely the prime tourist shopping location, some roads to venture on, Jalan Penang, Lebuh Campbell, Lebuh Chulia, Lebuh Kapitan Keling and Lebuh Pantai (Beach Road).
At Jalan Laut the New World Park can be found, not a very large mall but well worth the visit. Covered and also partially open air shopping center, with a central stage where live performances are held on a regular basis, Next to the NWP is a large covered food court where all local and foreign delicacies can be found.
Close to any shopping area, food is never far away, and trendy eateries, side walk café’s and bars, will even more enlighten the shopping spree.

What a gem by Capcom! Capcom always did wonderful jobs with their Disney licenses and Aladdin was no different. A really great platform game that used really well the original movie as inspiration, even if I did have a hard time on some fo the flying carpet levels. Its also very fun to compare this one to the Genesis one, by Shinny. Its the perfect “video game made in Japan” vs “video Game made in the USA” debate. I was never able to figure out wich one is better, so, I own both.
